STAKEHOLDER PRIORITIES FOR THE DESTINATION MANAGEMENT AND IMAGE OF LAPINDO MUDFLOW TRAGEDY IN SIDOARJO, INDONESIA
Lapindo Mudflow Tragedy is one of the most controversial environmental tragedy that have ever happen in Indonesia. The tragedy has caused disadvantages to the community, such as on the environmental, social, and economic aspects. Lapindo Mudflow is never intended to be a tourist destination, however since this phenomenon are controversial not only locally but internationally, several tourists come to visit the site out of curiosity. Several questions can be raised about the destination such as who are the mains stakeholder that are influencing the destination image? By identifying the stakeholders, the priorities of each stakeholder will beneficially help to find solutions for the future of the destination image. This study aims to determine and investigate the importance of stakeholders as well as their priorities for the Lapindo Mudflow Tragedy in Sidoarjo, Indonesia. In the literature review, the author will critically assess the theories of stakeholders, destination management, as well as tourist’s behavior. A framework will be provided regarding the topics that going to be discussed in chapter two. This research undertakes mixed method with research instruments such as interviews and online questionnaires. The primary research was conducted on 4th of June until 11th of June 2021, with 4 participants on interviews and 171 respondents on questionnaire. The data collected were analyzed in chapter four with tables, figures, and charts presented. And lastly, conclusion, limitations, recommendations for the destination managers, and suggestions for further research were also presented in the last chapter.
